Recommended Views and Key Features for TaskRay End Users

The document outlines key TaskRay features and recommended views for end users responsible for executing project tasks, highlighting the Kanban and My Work views for task management, detailed task editing including dependencies and repeating tasks, task extensions like checklists and attachments, and time tracking options such as manual entry and timers to enhance efficiency and project visibility.

As a TaskRay user responsible for executing project work and tasks, you have several key responsibilities, including communicating with clients, working through necessary tasks to complete onboarding, documenting progress, and ensuring visibility into project status. Below are some recommended views and key features in TaskRay to help you work efficiently and confidently.

TaskRay Views to Use

TaskRay offers multiple ways to manage your work, depending on your preferences and the task at hand. The two most recommended views for completing tasks are Kanban and My Work.

  • Kanban View: This view can be segmented into task groups you've created and sorted by dates, priority, or left unsorted. You can move task cards freely across the board, similar to sticky notes on a whiteboard. Moving tasks along columns (swim lanes) is as simple as dragging and dropping them to new positions.

  • My Work View: This view displays only the tasks assigned to you, helping you stay focused on your responsibilities. The feed within My Work shows updates to related tasks or projects, so you always know what's happening.

Manage the Details

To edit fields on a task, double-click the task card to open the task modal. Within the details tab, there are subtabs for:

  • Viewing or adding dependencies
  • Setting up repeating tasks

Repeating Tasks are useful if you need the same task completed multiple times at specific intervals.

Task Extensions

Beyond task details, you may need to manage other aspects such as:

  • Checklist items
  • Adding or editing attachments
  • Adding time to your task

These features are accessible from icons on the task card within Kanban view and are equally easy to use from My Work. You can complete a task with a single click.

Time Tracking

If you need to track time for billing or internal purposes, TaskRay provides tools to help:

  • Manual Entry: Enter the time taken to complete a task after finishing it.
  • Timer: Start a timer before beginning work and stop/save it upon completion.
  • Billable Time: Designate certain time entries as billable, allowing you to report on billable work as needed.
